Dr. Jeanette Gaoat Dials, a faculty member of the 草莓社区 College of Teacher Education (CTE), was recognized as a high-performing alumna of the Professional Development for Teacher Trainers under the American English (AE) Winter 2024 OPEN course held from January 9 to March 4, 2024. OPEN stands for Online Professional English Network.

According to Ms. Connie Chico, Cultural Affairs Officer of the Embassy of the United States of America, Dr. Dials received commendations from her instructors stating that “she works very effectively and efficiently in the course, has a clear understanding of the course content, and thoroughly reflects on how the course input can be applied in her teaching context.”

As part of the OPEN Community of Practice for Alumni, Dr. Dials will continue to forge linkages and partnerships for the university, especially in teacher training and other professional development.

Arizona State University spearheaded the American English (AE) Winter 2024 OPEN course, one of the online English programs sponsored by the Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs of the US Department of State.

High-performing alumni of the AE OPEN course may have opportunities to participate further in the AE OPEN program by becoming alumni facilitators for Massive Open Online Courses (MOOCs) or within the community of practice.

Dr. Dials also represented the university at the OPEN Alumni in Manila on April 20-21, along with Dr. Mee Jay Domingo, director for internationalization, linkages, and partnerships, Prof. Ryan Roi Domingo, chief of language center, Ms. Clarizza Joy Tumenes, CAS Extension coordinator, Dr. Gina Sylvia Gaoat, CTE Student Activities Coordinator, and Prof. Danica Hanna Pastor, former chief of language center. Dr. Domingo also won the photo essay contest and was elected as one of the board of trustees. (MKA_StratCom)
